Q.01How do I switch contract management software?
To switch to Pactolane from other contract management software, a spreadsheet or shared folders, you import your contracts as PDF and Word files, bring over your templates, clauses and counterparties, then, on the Growth and Scale plans, link your contract families. Getting started follows four stages: create your workspace, invite your team, import your contracts, configure your playbooks. There is no need to bring everything over at once: starting with active contracts and those with an upcoming deadline lets you secure the company's binding commitments first.
Q.02How do I import my existing contracts into Pactolane?
Pactolane lets you import your existing contracts as PDF or Word (DOCX) files, and extracts their text and information with AI, from the Team plan. In the import wizard, you enter the contract title, your role (client, supplier or neutral) and, if you wish, the playbook to apply: Pactolane then analyzes the structure of the document and detects the clauses. The contract then joins the contract repository like those created in the platform. Automatic AI analysis and PactAI are added on the Growth and Scale plans. Learn more about the contract repository and contract families.
Q.03How do I bring over amendments and contract families?
In Pactolane, contract families are rebuilt by your teams, on the Growth and Scale plans: after the import, the person who knows the file links each amendment, with its amount, each implementing contract and each renewal to its parent contract. The family is then displayed in tree view, from the parent contract to the latest amendment. PactAI then analyzes the family and answers when you ask it, for example “What terms apply today after the amendments?”; you check its answer against the documents before acting. For the underlying concept, see our definition of contract hierarchy.
Q.04Can we bring over our Word templates and clauses?
You bring your existing Word templates into Pactolane: from the template editor, you import a DOCX or PDF file, whose content arrives in the editor, where you add the variables, insert library clauses and publish the template. You save your reference clauses in the library, organized by category, with their alternatives. The Team plan includes 20 contract templates; the Growth and Scale plans, an unlimited number. See the contract creation page and clause library.
Q.05How do I bring over our list of clients and suppliers?
Pactolane brings your clients and suppliers together in a counterparty directory, included in all plans: each record shows the company, found by its SIREN number, its contacts and its related contracts, and duplicates can be spotted and merged. On the Growth and Scale plans, you can also import accounts and contacts from your connected CRM, Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive or Zoho CRM; the import runs from the CRM to Pactolane. Details are on our counterparty directory page and on the integrations page.
Q.06What support is available when switching to Pactolane?
Pactolane's support for getting started depends on your plan: a personalized 30-minute demo on your use cases, a 7-day free trial on Team and a 14-day free trial on Growth, and contact by email at contact@pactolane.com. The Scale plan, from €2,500 per month excl. VAT, also includes dedicated support and legal onboarding. Your teams stay in control of bringing everything over: they import the contracts, bring over the templates and, on Growth and Scale, link the families. Plans and prices are detailed on our pricing page and on the official information page.
Q.07How long does it take to switch to Pactolane?
You switch to Pactolane at your own pace: the time it takes depends on your contract volume, the state of your documents and your teams' availability. The application runs in the browser, with no installation, and getting started follows four stages (workspace, team, contract import, playbooks). The switch can be gradual, team by team or entity by entity, starting with active contracts. See how it works and, for the method, our explainer on migrating from Excel and shared drives.
